Also glad to see Natalie Portman getting a nomination, although it's a shame that once again Hollywood honors someone for playing a stripper. Her performance in Garden State was worthy enough, in my opinion.
And in a perfect world Before Sunset would have received multiple noms, but I can be happy that the tradition-bound Academy honored it with a Screenplay nomination.
And while it's a shoo-in for Best Animated Feature, I really could argue that The Incredibles was the Best Picture of the Year, period. Finding Neverland has the emotion, The Aviator has the grandeur, and Sideways has the gravity, but The Incredibles has it all. Is there nothing more exhilarating than watching Dash's face as he gets to let loose? His walking on water scene moved me more than anything Mel could have shown me in The Passion.
Second Biggest: no nomination for Paul Giamatti, which should only enhance his ability to play put-upon sad sacks.
And seriously...the Counting Crows are now considered Oscar nominees?
