A bit of sad news for fans of good newspaper columns: Molly Ivins died after a long battle with cancer. For most of the Bush presidency the media laid down and pretty much let the bastards in the White House get away with whatever they wanted, but Ivins never let her fellow Texan have an inch. Week after week she exposed him for the incompetent fraud that he is, and the world is a sadder, less enlightened place now that Ivins has passsed on.
Archived Ivins columns can be found here.
I would have loved to have read what Ivins thought about the Bush administration's efforts to pressure scientists into falsifying data about global warming. I am shocked, shocked to discover that the White House would think to do such a thing! Change the facts to fit your own warped sense of right and wrong? Never!
UPDATED
The news from this global warming conference held in Paris is getting more and more unsettling. It has been determined that it is "very likely" (as in a 90% accuracy) that climate change is man-made and that we pretty much won't be able to reverse the damages for centuries.
So I just want to say to all my friends over there in Ireland: you know how you guys don't have much air conditioning over there? You might want to invest in some of that.
Wait--air conditioning helps to contribute to global warming. Hmm, that'll just make it worse.
Oh God it's all my fault.
